Role: Social Media Consultant
Rate: $25/hour

Summary:
The Detroit Bar Association is seeking a part-time Social Media Consultant to develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy focused on building our audience across TikTok, LawyerTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The consultant will create engaging, informative, and professional content to enhance our online presence, increase member engagement, promote events & programming, and educate the public on key legal topics.

- Detroit Bar Logo watermark in all videos or Detroit Bar backdrop in video

- Approval for campaigns from Executive Director

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop a Social Media Growth Strategy
- Work with the Executive Director to design a comprehensive content strategy which aligns with the Detroit Bar’s strategic plan for TikTok, LawyerTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Identify key target audiences (lawyers, judges, law students, legal professionals, and the public) and create tailored content.
- Develop branding and messaging guidelines to maintain a professional and engaging presence.
- Research and implement growth tactics (collaborations, hashtags, paid promotions, partnerships).
2. Launch & Optimize Social Media Platforms
- TikTok & LawyerTube (YouTube):

- Set up and optimize accounts.
- Develop engaging short-form and long-form video content (legal insights, case studies, career advice, legal trends, legal trivia, mini mic series with lawyers/judges).
- Create TikTok videos with staff, membership and attendees of events for social media campaigns
- Utilize trending audio, challenges, and interactive features to boost engagement.
- Optimize video titles, descriptions, and hashtags for SEO and visibility.
- Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn:

- Build and grow a strong professional brand presence.
- Create engaging posts, carousels, infographics, and reels to drive awareness.
- Share updates on bar association events, programming, legal news, and member highlights.
- Develop ideas for LinkedIn articles and thought-leadership pieces to engage legal professionals.
- Foster member engagement through Q&As, discussions, and polls.
3. Content Creation & Management
- Develop a content calendar to maintain consistent posting across all platforms.
- Create engaging, high-quality content (text, graphics, video).
- Edit and optimize video content for each platform’s best practices.
- Repurpose content across multiple channels for maximum reach and engagement.
- Ensure content aligns with the Detroit Bar’s branding and professional standards
4. Community Engagement & Growth
- Monitor comments, messages, and discussions in a timely manner.
- Foster online engagement among members, legal professionals, and stakeholders.
- Create campaigns and challenges to encourage active participation from legal professionals.
- Develop strategies to convert social media followers into active bar association members.
- Establish a social media ambassador program with key bar association members.
5. Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure social media impact.
- Provide monthly reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Adjust content strategy based on data-driven insights.
6. Event Promotion & Live Coverage
- Promote events, programming, and networking opportunities.
- Provide real-time social media coverage for major events.
- Develop social media toolkits for event attendees and speakers.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all social media activities comply with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Monitor for potential PR risks and recommend appropriate responses.
8. Training
- Train bar association staff on best practices for content creation and platform management.
- Provide guidelines, templates, and content strategies for continued growth.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in social media strategy, audience growth, and content creation.
- Strong knowledge of TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Ability to create high-quality video, graphic, and written content.
- Understanding of SEO, video optimization, and social media engagement strategies.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, Meta Business Suite).
- Proficiency in graphic design/video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with legal organizations, bar associations, or professional groups is a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years in social media marketing, content creation, or digital strategy.
- Previous experience working with law firms, professional associations, or legal education organizations.
