MACC Legal is a volunteer operated, nonprofit legal clinic on the east side of Detroit. It holds office hours on the first and third Saturdays of each month to offer clients advice and counsel on common legal issues including landlord tenant, consumer credit, family law, and property matters.
Volunteers typically serve once every two months on a Saturday from 11 am to 2 p.m. Lawyers will meet with clients for one hour sessions to discuss legal problems, review paperwork, and offer advice. Limited drafting of some legal documents is occasionally required. The attorneys do not undertake ongoing representation nor enter their appearance as counsel of record. MACC Legal provides malpractice insurance to all of its volunteers. A current license in good standing with the Michigan State Bar is required. Administrative volunteers are responsible for greeting clients, assisting them in completing intake forms, accepting payment, copying documents, creating a file, and data entry. No prior legal experience is required.
For more information, please contact Kimberly Chadwick at legalmacc@gmail.com or 313/732-9302. Ext. 3.

Ext. 3.
