Michigan Children’s Law Center (MCLC) is a nonprofit law firm that represents children in the Wayne County Juvenile Court. We are seeking pro bono volunteers to represent our clients in various matters. All attorneys licensed to practice in Michigan are qualified to participate. 

Volunteer Training and Support:  One on One support is provided, sample pleadings are provided, MCLC will also go through the process of obtaining experts in juvenile delinquency cases in 3rd Circuit Court.  The current process includes contacting the appropriate expert for details, drafting, filing, and scheduling the motion with the Chief Judge, serving said motion on the parties (Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office–Family Division (Juvenile Section), appearing before the Chief Judge (virtually) to be heard, contacting the expert and assigned attorney with the results.

 

Time commitment:  Approximately 5-7 hours per case

 

Volunteers would need to pass the 3rd Circuit Court background check in order to participate.
