Abdnour Weiker, LLP [pronounced Ab-da-nor Why-kerr] is a boutique, dynamic, and expanding law firm with offices in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. The firm was founded by Liz Abdnour and Mark Weiker, after both operated separate students-rights focused firms in Michigan and Ohio, respectively.

Our mission is to protect the rights and futures of students and educators.  We practice primarily in the following areas: K12 school law and student rights; Title IX investigations, hearings, and litigation; special education law and disability rights; educator and school employee representation; and college student rights, code of conduct, and academic misconduct.

Experience in education, employment, or civil rights law is preferred, but not required.  The position is full time (32+ hours per week) and licensure to practice law in Michigan is required. The selected professional will serve as second chair and litigation support to our Michigan partner, Liz Abdnour.

  • Ability to follow directions carefully and meet deadlines
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • An interest in education, civil rights, employment, and/or disability law
  • Empathy and patience for people going through difficult situations
  • Strong commitment to personal and professional ethics
  • Professional fluency in English
  • Transportation for travel to and from hearings and meetings
  • Very light lifting or bending may be required for in-court appearances or hearings with clients

Location

This is a fully remote position, but you must be located in Michigan and able to travel to hearings and meetings as needed.  We have offices in Bloomfield Hills and East Lansing for in-person client meetings.

Compensation

We offer a 40% share of all revenue you bring in, $100/hour for work on contingency cases, and a comprehensive benefits plan including health insurance, life insurance, short-term disability, retirement contribution, and a flexible schedule.
