At the beginning of a run, obstacles are widely spaced and the dinosaur moves at a manageable speed. This gives players enough time to become familiar with the rhythm of the game.

The pace gradually increases as the score rises. Obstacles arrive more quickly, leaving less time to decide whether to jump or duck. The changing distance between hazards also prevents players from relying on a fixed pattern. A long gap may suddenly be followed by several obstacles placed close together.
