GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION OPENING

Civil Rights / Title IX Coordinator

IN THIS ROLE:

The Civil Rights/Title IX Coordinator is responsible for the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive program for students enrolled in Oakland Schools student programs to include monitoring and compliance with laws, policies, administrative rules, and practices relating to discrimination, harassment and retaliation prohibited by state and federal nondiscrimination laws. The Title IX Coordinator is also responsible for employee complaints and assisting local districts with Title IX training and resources. Leads training and education for students and employees to support a culture of respect that is free from all forms of discrimination.

WHAT WE NEED:

We are looking for a highly collaborative individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, organized, detailed orientated with experience in compliance/investigations. This individual will collaborate with in-house legal counsel for the continued development and implementation Oakland Schools Civil Rights/Title IX program. The individual will oversee investigations by assigning to legal counsel for handling or conducting compliant investigations internally. We will provide the requisite training related to this position to the right candidate. Interested candidates should note that Civil Rights is a key component of the job, but equivalent compliance/investigation experience will be considered. This individual will support Oakland School’s mission to create and maintain an environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

 WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with civil rights/Title IX or equivalent experience conducting sensitive investigations in an efficient manner
  • One to three years of successful experience in regulatory compliance is strongly preferred
  • Experience facilitating grievance procedures and investigating complaints is highly desirable

SALARY DETAILS:

Annual salary of $75,474 - $87,527 with the potential to earn up to $94,257 based on annual step increases / exempt position / 12-month work year
