THE MASS ADMISSION CEREMONIES
In conjunction with the Wayne County Third Circuit Court, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association conducts two Mass Admission Ceremonies each year (one in the Spring, and one in the Fall). The date for the Spring Ceremony will be finalized once the Board of Examiners releases the Feburary Passer List, and the Fall Ceremony will be set once the July Passer List is released.
The DMBA will mail personal invitations to all Passers who reside in Wayne County (based on the records provided by the State Bar). However, an open invitation is extended to anyone whose name appears on the Passers list, or those who have received waivers of admittance from the Board of Examiners.

What is a personal motion?
A personal motion is when a new lawyer has a family member or close associate, who is an attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan, make a personal statement (not to exceed one minute) regarding the new lawyer's character and ability to ethically and knowledgeably practice law.
If a new attorney wishes to have a personal motion made on their behalf during the Ceremony, they should email the name and license number of the attorney performing the personal motion for admittance to registration@detroitlawyer.org. The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers' President or Vice President will make a general motion for admittance on behalf of all the new lawyers participating in the Ceremony.
