Where do you go if you need an attorney but don't know how to find one? Call the Lawyer Referral & Information Service of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, phone: 313-961-3545. Commonly referred to as LRIS.

We recruit lawyers in Wayne County, Michigan, to join our panel.  Each lawyer on our panel tells us the kinds of cases he or she has experience handling, and are insured members in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.  Our attorneys agree to respond to all inquiries made by the LRIS, written or oral, regarding referrals.

When members of the public call, attorneys agree to discuss referred matters to determine whether the client has a case, and the appropriate fee to be charged. There is no expectation that the attorney will render free services.  Each attorney sets his or her own rate for services; the LRIS does not know the rates for its? panel attorneys.

Our LRIS is available to you 24 hours a day. Due to the volume of calls we receive, you may be asked to leave a phone message. You must give the following information in your message or email in order to receive a referral. If not, you may not receive a referral:

The service is closed on weekends and holidays; we will respond to messages received during off hours the following business day. This is a telephone or e-mail service only. There are no attorneys on our staff who can talk with you in person. For reasons of confidentiality, we cannot take walk-ins at our office.
